A Huntington hero was honored in the state capital last Tuesday. Second Precinct Police Officer Mark Collins, who was shot in the neck and hip by a suspected gang member during an arrest last year, was honored for his exemplary service by Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R, C, I-South Huntington) and his colleagues in both the state assembly and state senate.

Community, government and religious leaders across Long Island and the Town of Huntington mourned the 49 lives lost Sunday in the Orlando shooting tragedy.

The Huntington Town Board has proposed sweeping changes to the portion of town code that pertains to animals, including cracking down on owners who do not pick up their animal’s waste, or who leave their animal unattended in a vehicle without proper ventilation.
