The Foodies at Long Islander News aren’t necessarily the biggest breakfast connoisseurs. Our palettes, and our waking hours, typically veer us toward meals no earlier than lunch. But our tastes aren’t exactly the universal standard. So, we got ourselves up and out to take on some of the town’s more popular breakfast spots.

Whether it’s stopping by for a quick slice of pizza or staying for a three-course dinner, Gino’s Pizzeria in Huntington village is sure to please the senses. Owner Nick Salerno worked at his grandfather’s pizzeria as a youngster, eventually realizing a passion for food when he turned 12, the same age he created his first 18-inch pizza.

Dinner with a view is this Cold Spring Harbor restaurant’s recipe for success. Since owners Barman and Michelle Sharifi opened Harbor Mist in June 2010, the new-American waterfront gem provides a view that’s well worth the drive. And the meals are equal in quality to the view.

Jewel Restaurant has shined in Melville since spring 2011 when owner and chef, Tom Schaudel, opened the Route 110 establishment. Schaudel, who has also operated restaurants including Rockfish in Huntington and The Mansion at The Woodlands in Woodbury, planted the restaurant in the ground level of the Rubie Corporate Plaza, which is a fitting setting considering the building’s all-glass construction that complements its interior decor.

To Joe Forgione, it was very important that the marquee above soon-to-be-open S.T.A.G.S. Tap House puts the downtown-Huntington gastropub’s specialty front and center: Beer.

Fado means fate and destiny. With that, Alison Steindler wants diners at her Fado restaurant to be destined for companionship.

Black & Blue Seafood Chophouse proves that steaks and seafood go well together. Luigi Aloe, owner of the 65 Wall St. restaurant in Huntington, has been combining this delicate balance for nine years, with the help of General Manager Rocco Furgiuele.

Sapsuckers Hops & Grub at 287 Main Street, Huntington is a gastro-pub with flair. Owned and operated by Nino Antuzzi and Kelley Danek since September 2010, this venue has been attracts diners looking for burgers, beers and unique fare.

Long Island Restaurant Week kicks off its spring 2016 campaign this Sunday, April 17. Until April 24, participating restaurants across Long Island will offer a three-course prix fixe menu for $27.95 every night (until 7 p.m. on Saturday night only). Restaurants across the Town of Huntington are also joining in on the special, offering a minimum of three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts.

Farzana Sohail has committed herself to providing diners of Masalah Grill in Huntington Station authentic Indian cuisine. The owner of the New York Avenue Pakistani/Indian restaurant that sits across from the Walt Whitman Shops, said she uses “the freshest ingredients, spices imported from India directly and original recipes passed down from generation to generation.”

Overlooking Northport Harbor for the last 29 years, The Ritz Cafe serves up American-inspired dishes while offering diners the perfect backdrop for diners who love dining with a view.

When a customer steps into Cirella’s Restaurant in Melville, owner Dean Cirella wants them ot feel like family. “I have managers like Tammy, who has been with me for 20 years and Ed for 15 years, who ensure that whether you’re a regular or a new customer, you leave our restaurant feeling like you’re part of our family,” he said.

Starting April 12, both the Huntington village and East Northport Starbucks locations are expected to begin serving wine and craft beer.
