The Huntington Town Board has proposed sweeping changes to the portion of town code that pertains to animals, including cracking down on owners who do not pick up their animal’s waste, or who leave their animal unattended in a vehicle without proper ventilation.

A fire that engulfed a 10-wheel dump truck shut down a stretch of Park Avenue early Wednesday morning, police and fire officials said.

Huntington Code Enforcement officers and Suffolk County police cracked down last month on two Huntington Station residences that were found to have illegal apartments, and be in violation of town code, according to town officials.
