An SUV, apparently idling in park, rolled across West Neck Road and smashed into the Double ‘S’ Deli Tuesday afternoon.

No one was injured in the low-speed crash, which happened at approximately 4:45 p.m. April 7.

Two girls were in the grey GMC Acadia SUV, which was idling in the HSBC/Golden Dolphin Diner lot, while their mother was running an errand, witnesses said. Then, the SUV started rolling.

The girls, who got out of the car before it smacked into the deli, took the keys out of the ignition, witnesses said, but the car rolled out of the lot and into the front of the Double ‘S’ Deli.

Multiple squad cars responded to the incident, as did the Huntington Fire Department and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad. The delicatessen suffered some damage to its door frame, officers on the scene said.

A building inspector responded to the scene to assess if any structural damage had occurred, officials said.
