Teacher, Coach Struck, Killed By Car In Huntington

A 27-year-old California woman was struck and killed by a car in Huntington on Friday. Jacklyn Henderson, an Oyster Bay High School grad who lived in Aptos, California, was walking along Cove Road, just west of Bayview Drive, when she was struck by a 2005 Mazda that was heading eastbound at around 4:25 p.m. Henderson was brought to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the car, 23-year-old Northport resident Corey Mann remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, and the investigation is continuing, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. Henderson, according to an obituary posted on Northport-based Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home’s website, was a biology teacher and cross country coach at North Monterey County High School in Castroville, California. She is survived by mother Grace E. Papaccio and her husband Thomas; father Jason Henderson and his wife Melissa; siblings Kyle, Richard, Julia, Greyson, Willow and Marissa; and grandparents Richard and Julia Henderson. Visitation was held at Nolan & Taylor Howe. A funeral Mass will be held today, 9:45 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington. Henderson will be interred at Huntington Rural Cemetery. PD: Women Wanted For Stealing From Commack Business

Suffolk police are trying to identify and locate these two women, pictured right, who they say stole merchandise from a Commack cosmetics story this past spring.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers said the pair stole cosmetics valued at more than $850 from Ulta Beauty at 78 Veterans Memorial Highway on May 23 at around 6:30 p.m.

One suspect was described as white and the other suspect was described as light-skinned black.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Man Falls From Ladder, Seriously Injured: FD

Emergency crews ready to transport a man injured after he fell from a ladder in Melville on Monday.

 

A 45-year-old man suffered serious injuries Monday after he fell from a ladder in a Melville warehouse, fire officials said.

The Melville Fire Department responded to the Republic Road warehouse, off of Ruland Road, at around 1:30 p.m. Fire officials said the man suffered serious injuries after falling around 20 feet from a ladder onto a cement floor in the warehouse.

Melville Rescue Squad personnel stabilized the man, who was airlifted by Suffolk Police Medivac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Two ambulances, two engines, paramedic and fire police units were dispatched and under the direction of Chief Jason Bernfeld and Assistant Chief David Kaplan.

Man Wanted For Stealing Tools, Cops Say

Suffolk police are trying to identify and locate a man they say stole tools from a vacant Commack home earlier this year. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives said the man stole tools between March 31 and April 3 from the Hayrick Lane residence that was under construction. Police said the tools are valued at around $1200. The suspect was seen driving a black pickup truck with tinted windows. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Cops Seeking Man Accused Of Stealing Bicycle From Home

Suffolk police are trying to track down and identify the person they said stole a bike from a Huntington Station home earlier this month.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Precinct Crime Section officers said the bicycle, which was locked up in front of the Allison Court home, was stolen on July 5 at around 5 p.m.

The male suspect, pictured, was described as black and possibly in his late teens. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt without sleeves or with white-colored sleeves and shorts. He was also carrying a backpack.
