Councilman Announces Bid For Supervisor

Eugene Cook

Huntington Councilman Eugene Cook formally announced his candidacy for town supervisor at an event at West Hills Day Camp Grounds on Sunday.

He now throws his hat into the ring after three Democrats have revealed their bids. Councilwoman Tracey Edwards, former Nassau County legislator and scientist Brian Muellers and Northport high school teacher and civic leader Darryl St. George are each seeking election.

An Independence Party member, Cook previously ran for supervisor in 2013 on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines, losing to incumbent Supervisor Frank Petrone, who ran on the Democratic and Working Families lines, by 843 votes.

Cook did not respond to multiple calls for comment before deadline Wednesday.
