Cops block off Tanyard Lane at the intersection with West Neck Road Tuesday evening as police scour Huntington village and the surrounding areas with hopes of tracking down a burglary suspect.

A police dragnet was deployed early Tuesday evening as officers hunted for a suspect or suspects in a home invasion.

Police believe this is the second time in a week the suspect or suspects have tried to break into this particular home, police sources said.

A half dozen squad cars blocked off the entrance to the Hillbrae community at the corner of West Neck Road and Tanyard Lane, across the street from the Huntington-Cold Spring Harbor United Methodist Church, around 5 p.m., while other officers scoured the neighborhood in search of the culprits.

In Huntington village, a police helicopter could be heard aiding in the hunt.

A police source said the suspect or suspects in this case apparently tried to break into the same house about a week ago. This time, however, the suspect or suspects did not successfully burglarize the home, but damaged a door.

It’s unclear if anything was stolen during the previous attempt.

Anyone with information can call the Second Squad at 631-854-8200.
