Car Splits Utility Pole In Half

A black 2008 Honda Sedan crashed into a utility pole and split it in half on Monday afternoon, Sept. 14.

A section of New Street in Huntington village was closed off from traffic Monday afternoon after a car careened into a utility pole, splitting it in half, police and fire officials said.

The Huntington Fire Department, emergency crews, and Suffolk police responded to the accident, which occurred at 4:27 p.m. between W. Carver and High streets.

Police said two passengers were in a black 2008 Honda sedan and were not injured. They refused medical attention. The incident is still under investigation.
