The body of a 24-year-old kayaker who went missing in the Long Island Sound earlier this month was found floating near Clinton, Connecticut, according to Suffolk police.

Selvin Vasquez-Enamorado, of Huntington Station, launched his kayak from Crab Meadow Beach in Northport between 3-4 p.m. on June 11, but later that day his unmanned kayak, along with a paddle and fishing pole, were recovered around 1 mile north of Crab Meadow, according to a U.S. Coast Guard official.

Two recreational fishermen discovered Vasquez-Enamorado’s body on Saturday at around 11:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Jeremiah Dunn, of the Clinton Connecticut Police Department.

A State of Connecticut medical examiner deemed the cause of death as accidental drowning, Dunn added.

On Monday, a GoFundMe page was created to raise funds for funeral arrangements, and for help in sending Vasquez-Enamorado’s body back to Honduras, where he was born. The fundraising goal has been set at $10,000 — nearly $900 was raised as of deadline Wednesday.
