Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone announced this morning that he will not seek re-election this November.

Petrone, a Democrat, who was first elected supervisor in 1993, is currently in his sixth four-year term.

The 72-year-old Melville resident said in a statement emailed Thursday, “It is with a considerable sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, as well as a little bit of sadness, that I am announcing today that I will not be a candidate for re-election this year.”

Petrone was also previously the Suffolk County Legislature’s chief of staff and regional director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
