A trio of scorers led the Lady Wildcats past Central Islip, 3-1, on Monday.

Walt Whitman, which earned its first win of the season, found itself in an early, 1-0, hole, but quickly dug out of it with junior forward Danielle Kleet’s second goal of the season. Kleet chased down a ball played down the right side of Central Islip’s defense, cut in to beat a defender and sailed the ball over the keeper.

After the two goals, which were scored within the first six minutes of play, the two sides were deadlocked through the first half.

That changed in the second half, when junior midfielder Alyssa Chillemi scored her first goal of the season and eighth grader Ella Brower scored the first goal of her varsity career.

Kristen Finnerty, a sophomore, was also credited with two assists in the win.

Senior goalkeeper and captain Brittany Shaneberger made four saves to preserve the win.

The Wildcats were next scheduled to face Connetquot after deadline Wednesday. They slated to welcome Riverhead on Saturday, 4:30 p.m. for another League II contest.
