Mary Chimezie, center, pictured during the Molloy Stanner Games in January, set yet another record last weekend during the 2016 Long Island Elite Meet.

Half Hollow High School East’s senior track star, Mary Chimezie, claimed first place in yet another 300-meter dash last weekend.

During the 2016 Long Island Elite meet held at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, Chimezie raced out to a time of 30.33 seconds, besting Kiyah Owens of Manhasset who followed closely behind at 40.7 seconds.

Chimezie now prepares for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s state winter track meet, which is slated for Saturday at upstate Cornell University.

On Feb. 10, Chimezie also set another record in the 300-meter dash when she clocked in at 39.94 seconds, besting the previous record for the Suffolk State Qualifying Track and Field Meet. The previous record of 40.02 seconds was held by Chinny Offer, also of Half Hollow Hills.
