Councilman Mark Cuthbertson and the Town of Huntington Human Services Institute recently presented winners of the first “Huntington Cares: Halloween Photo Contest for a Cause” with their prizes.

At a Monday night ceremony at town hall, Cuthbertson said, “I am proud to have hosted this fun holiday photo contest, which was also for a great cause.”

As part of the contest, which sought photos in five categories – baby costume, child costume, adult costume, family costume and pet costume – a $2,500 donation was made to the Save the Children Foundation - Hurricane Maria Children’s Relief Fund in the name of contest winner Cooper Madison. The donation will help those in need in Puerto Rico in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.

The winning photo, “Chief Cooper Madison to the Rescue,” was snapped by Lori Madison and earned 427 votes for the grand prize, which along with the donation, was an iPad.

Winners in each of the categories were as follows: Babies (2 and under), “Jaylen as a Dinosaur” by Andrea Roberts with 316 votes; Adults (18 & above), “My Beautiful Daughter” by Angela Camarda with 176 votes; Families “Family of Guardians!” by Seth Rostan with 152 votes; and Pets “Nala in a Homemade Pinata,” by Jennifer Chung with 72 votes.

Cuthbertson thanked all those who joined the contest and congratulated the winners.

He continued, “Special thanks to our major sponsors at Rubie’s Costume Company, Value Drugs, DQ Grill and Chill, and Covanta, who through their generous donations, helped to make the ‘Halloween photo contest for a cause’ a reality. I also wish to thank all of the local businesses as well for contributing to this contest.”
