Daniel Gale Sotheby’s Twilight Open House nights hope to steal a little time from prospective buyers on their way to the Hamptons.

Ever notice that weekends start early in summer, especially for those who can afford a place in the Hamptons?

At least one local real estate company has taken notice, and has put together a program to sell Hamptons-bound New Yorkers on Lloyd Neck not only as an ideal place to live, but as an alternative to rushing off to the Hamptons every weekend.

Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Real Estate’s Cold Spring Harbor office is hosting open houses at nearly a dozen Lloyd Neck homes this Thursday and will continue with monthly Twilight Open House nights to show off the tony community at its best time, the waning hours of the day as sunset approaches.  Select listings will be open for viewing between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and themed refreshments will be served at each home, courtesy of popular local restaurants, bakeries and specialty shops.  The first Twilight Open House is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 and the theme is “sweet treats.”

“Our goal was to make it easier for house hunters to visit a group of homes in this unique community in a time-efficient and pleasurable manner, while providing more than a glimpse of what life in Lloyd Neck is like,” said Peggy Moriarty, an associate real estate broker with Daniel Gale Sotheby’s. “Particularly for buyers coming out from the city, an early evening open house helps them imagine what beauty and serenity they’ll come home to at the end of the day.”

For Moriarty, Lloyd Neck offers an opportunity to live in one’s vacation home.

“For me, the vacation begins when you roll your window down as soon as you get on the causeway.

The properties on the Open House tour are located within an easy drive of each other and represent a variety of price points and neighborhoods.

“It’s such a unique community and each street has its own personality,” Moriarty added. “Fiddler’s Green is a more social neighborhood, great for families; Fort Hill is quiet and has the tennis court.”

She’s hoping the Twilight Open House to be able to match prospective buyers with those communities-within-a-community.
