The Huntington Town Board unanimously approved piercing its state-mandated tax cap Tuesday to make way for a $188 million budget for 2017 that preserves all programs and services.

State Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R-South Huntington) said he was filled with pride as he stood on the campus before the debate commenced.

About 25 members of the community gathered at the Dix Hills Fire Department (115 Deer Park Road) to attend its first of five town-hall style meetings, which are intended to discuss the proposed renovations to the department’s headquarters.
