With the ocean breeze on their faces and the smell of salt water in the air, sixth graders at Northport Middle School had the opportunity to learn about oceanography and hydrology outside of the classroom during the Great South Bay Investigation field trip from last week

Rust & Gold is primed to open its doors Thursday, months after its owners took over what was previously Rookies Sports Club on Gerard Street. After a summer full of renovations, Rust & Gold is set to officially open Thursday at 4 p.m.

 “I will submit to you this: The bags are not free. We were paying for them anyway. We’ve just pulled the hidden cost and we put it right out there on the table,” he said. By exposing it, I’m giving people a chance to opt out. Now when you go to the register, you have a choice. It creates awareness.”
