This year’s Huntington School District “Stuff the Bus” food drive, sponsored by the Huntington High School student government, broke all previous records for the sheer volume of items collected, and ultimately disbursed to community food pantries.

The Huntington School District overestimated expenditures by around $14.2 million over a three-year period, creating a tax levy that “may have been higher than necessary to fund District operations,” according to an audit released earlier this month by the Office of the New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

After serving the Huntington Village community for 35 years, Lion in the Sun will be closing its 314 Main St. storefront on Saturday.
