Shot Officer’s Condition Upgraded To ‘Fair’

Suffolk County Police Officer Mark Collins, a decorated member of the Second Precinct Crime Unit’s anti-gang task force who was seriously hurt Wednesday night after being shot during a pursuit, is no longer in a medically-induced coma and has been upgraded to “fair” condition, Suffolk County Police said Friday afternoon.

Zone Change Poised For Oheka Residences

Requirements to move forward a conditional zone change approval for a luxury apartment complex on the Oheka Castle property have been met.

Now that covenants and restrictions for the property were filed last week, the zone change will allow for a 190-unit complex to be built on an 18.3-acre subdivision between Oheka Castle and the Cold Spring Hills Country Club.

For Shellfishers, A Winter For The Ages

Residents in the shellfishing business said the 2014-2015 has been one for the ages. With 40 years under his belt, Northport’s Tom Kehoe has been through quite a lot in the shellfishing business, but nothing quite like this.

“We’ve had bad winters… but we never had anything that went for so long as this and was so pervasive,” he said.
