Suffolk police are stepping up patrols following a string of three shootings within four days in Huntington Station. Second Precinct Detective Sergeant James Scimone said Wednesday that the Second Precinct Detective Squad is working in tandem with Suffolk County’s Firearm Suppression Team.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, along with various elected officials and environmental advocates, announced Monday a proposal that would let the county implement a surcharge on water usage that would go towards funding upgrades to the county’s wastewater infrastructure.

Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Dix Hills) continues to garner support in his primary run for the Third Congressional District seat with endorsements this week from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Huntington Town Supervisor Frank Petrone.
