Emma Baudo, Jamie Gatto, Ellie Fox and Samantha Reim are all smiles after winning the sophomore 4x200-meter relay in Ocean Breeze High School Invitational on Sunday.

Cold Spring Harbor sophomores Jamie Gatto, Emma Baudo, Samantha Reim and Ellie Fox, who make up the Seahawks’ 4x200-meter relay team, brought the fire last weekend at the Ocean Breeze High School Invitational. The team set a meet record for sophomores and a new Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School record.

Competing at Ocean Breeze Sportsplex in Staten Island on Sunday, the Seahawks completed the race in 1:48.57.

“They’re all really good athletes,” head coach Nicholas Aurigemma said. “They’ve been growing together, getting better together and they push each other every day. It’s a nice little environment they have together.”

As a whole, the Seahawks have been named Nassau VI Conference champions for the second consecutive year. They finished the season with 145 points, the most the team has ever scored, according to Aurigemma.

The Seahawks are next scheduled to compete in the Nassau Class B Championship on Tuesday at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington.

Gatto, Baudo, Fox and Reim will enter the meet as defending county champions. They’re hoping to retain that title, Aurigemma said. In addition, the four sophomores are also set to compete in individual events at the county meet.

Gatto and Baudo will be compete in the 300-meter; Fox in the 55-meter; and Reim in the 1,000-meter. Gatto will also enter the long jump event.

Other athletes who qualified for counties are freshman Fiona Haegeland, competing in the 300-meter; senior Jillian Futter in the 1,000-meter; and junior Jenna Galli in the pole vault.

Aurigemma said the season has been about making improvements every week.

Now, “they have a chance to be county champions,” Aurigemma said. “It’s really trying to keep the pressure off of them and let them enjoy their season, and keep getting better.”
