A Historic Mission
The Long-Islander Newspapers Inc. covers the entire town of Huntington in New York, including 22 communities and 8 public school districts with its 3 weekly community newspapers: The Long-Islander (founded in 1838 by the famed poet and newspaperman Walt Whitman), The Record (born in 1992 following a corporate merger) and the Half Hollow Hills Newspaper (which made its debut in 1997) and a weekly publication on arts, entertainment and history: The Northport Journal. Each newspaper serves its area as a herald of news, entertainment and sports, with in-depth coverage of local issues, politics and crime, a newly introduced Life&Style section and top-notch coverage of local high school teams, youth leagues and locally-bred collegians and professionals. No other newspaper or media source in the area matches the breadth, accuracy and dependability of the coverage in the Long Islander Newspapers, and no other source is as dedicated to the community in which it proudly serves.
