Visitors to Crab Meadow Beach enjoyed an automotive blast to the past before a drive-in showing of “Back to the Future” July 24.
Members of the New York De Lorean Motor Club displayed a half-dozen samples of the striking gull-winged, stainless steel, rear-engine sports cars. Club members said just 9,000 of the cars were made in early 1980s, and about 5,000 to 6,000 De Loreans survive today.
The display and screening of “Back to the Future” was part of the Town of Huntington’s third installment of the 2014 Movies on the Lawn series, presented by Councilman Mark Cuthbertson.
The film series wraps up for the summer on Monday, Aug. 18 at Peter Nelson Park, with a showing of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” A kite-flying contest is also scheduled for that evening.
