A 51-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after Suffolk police said he burglarized Mayfair Bagels in Commack, and fled on a bicycle.

Fourth Precinct officers responding to an automatic alarm at the 10 Jericho Turnpike business allegedly spotted Mathew McCauley at around 4:45 a.m. Police said McCauley fled the scene on a bicycle, but was located “in the area a short time later.”

A man who answered the phone at Mayfair Bagels on Tuesday declined to comment on the incident.

Police said McCauley, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was charged with third-degree burglary and a parole violation.

Fourth Squad Detectives are investigating McCauley’s “possible involvement” in other recent burglaries in the Commack area, police said.

McCauley was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday after deadline.
