Negotiations between a bus company and its union will continue Thursday.

With negotiations over a labor dispute between a bus company and its union ending at 1 a.m. planning to resume at 4 p.m., buses are running on regular schedules today in the Northport and Commack school districts, officials said.

Teamsters Local 1205 had threatened to strike as early as today if Baumann & Sons Buses Inc. and its affiliate ACME Corp. had not addressed demands for higher wages. The strike would affect 800 buses and 1,200 workers across Long Island serving several dozen districts, including Northport and Commack in the Town of Huntington

Northport and Commack posted to their websites that buses will run on its regular schedule on Thursday and have devised contingency plans meant to ease congestion in case a strike does occur in the future. Those plans are available at northport.k12.ny.us and commack.k12.ny.us.
