~~~Long Islander News - New Job Opportunities~~~
Enter the exciting world of Newspaper publishing
For 179 years, The Long-Islander has been Huntington’s go-to source for all the goings-on of the township. One of Long Island’s liveliest towns, the Town of Huntington always offers another stone to overturn, and story to tell. We are currently seeking a staff writer/reporter to join our team and provide interesting, in-depth coverage of this dynamic town.
The ideal candidate is an organized and aggressive news hound who can take on a variety of duties, including both reporting and photography.
Typical assignments include: town and school board meetings, local fundraisers and events, high school sports games and feature writing, including for our popular Foodie section. Additionally, staff reporters are assigned beats and expected to report on those beats each week. Reporters must be able to establish connections within their assigned communities. Prior experience covering local government is a plus.
This is a full-time role, with a full benefits package available. Photo equipment is not provided. Staff writers report directly to the editor. The Long-Islander and its insert, Huntington Weekly are a part of Long Islander News.
