Students from Huntington-based theater group From Stage to Screen Performing Arts Academy commanded the stage at Five Towns College on July 22 as they dazzled the audience for the ninth annual Summer Intensive program, performing “Legally Blonde: The Musical.”

Artists were recently asked to submit their depictions of Long Island landmarks for a Cold Spring Harbor art exhibit.

For the past two decades, The Tenderloins four-man comedy troupe has set out to annoy on a seemingly daily basis. Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn and Sal Vulcano, known for hit hidden camera television show “Impractical Jokers,” have been doing it since grade school.

Just last year, Greenalwn resident Christian Siems received a new heart. The 22-year-old suffered from heart condition that caused his heart to become weakened and enlarged, and unable to pump blood effectively. 

Graphic designer David Whitcher has given Huntington High School a makeover. Whitcher, with the help of students and local volunteers, has painted and re-painted several murals across the campus, including on the 200-foot wall found opposite the school’s entrance on McKay Road

The YMCA of Long Island has kicked off its “Road to Olympics” campaign, which highlights the multiple sports and activities the Y offers in an effort to encourage active lifestyles ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games.

The stage at the John W. Engeman Theater in Northport illuminated summertime on a Greek island on Saturday, as it was dressed in accents of blue, white stonewalls, budding flowers and a wooden dock. Audience members took in the beautiful setting as they proceeded to their seats to witness Tony Award-nominated musical “Mamma Mia!”

Traveling north from their Commack homes, Ryan Lally and Mike Rayfield found themselves in Northport Village last week. The pair, posted up near the Northport World War II Memorial outside of the village park, stared at their illuminated smartphone screens, concentrating and tapping rapidly.

Members of the Huntington High School Class of 1951 gathered at Tutto Pazzo restaurant last Thursday to reminisce and keep up with each other’s lives. Carmella Donnino, one of the original 159 graduates of the class, flew up from Delray Beach, Florida to join her former classmates. She said the major reunions stopped after the 50th, but this year’s marked a milestone.

Don Murray, a former Lloyd Neck resident and actor who once starred alongside Marilyn Monroe in “Bus Stop,” is the focus of an upcoming program at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, slated for Sunday night.

The Art League of Long Island in Dix Hills recently hosted a juried exhibition called “The Long Island Life,” for which 366 photographers submitted artwork encapsulating what living on Long Island meant to them. 

Huntington Hospital joined forces with the community to raise awareness, and funds, for cancer research by sponsoring Relay for Life events at both Huntington Northport high schools, which raised a total of around $321,000.

Eric Stonestreet, one of television’s brightest comedy stars, is set to visit The Paramount in Huntington village on July 17 for an intimate and interactive evening.

The Huntington Historical Society celebrated its 112th annual meeting at the Huntington Elks Club last month. The celebration included a buffet dinner, and presentations were made on the society’s 2015 activities, milestones and future goals.

Sebastian Prestia is the top-ranked chess player in his age group in the entire country, according to the United States Chess Federation.

Although her mom has been a volunteer for Bellport-based Literacy Suffolk for 10 years, Maria Samaritano, 17, became part of the nonprofit organization when she was in eighth grade, participating in Legs for Literacy, which is held during the annual Huntington Thanksgiving Day Charity Run.

With the summer season rolling in the YMCA of Long Island has partnered with Stew Leonard III Children’s Charities to promote the importance of safe swimming with the seventh annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.
