A man was arrested early Tuesday morning for driving the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway while intoxicated, Suffolk police said.

Stuart Zeiff, 65, of Jericho, was pulled over by Highway Patrol Officer Robert Scudellari at about 1:35 a.m., police said. Scudellari determined Zeiff was intoxicated, arrested him for driving while intoxicated and issued him multiple traffic tickets for vehicle and traffic-law violations.

Police say Scudellari made the stop after he was driving eastbound and observed Zeiff driving a 2015 Maserati westbound in the eastbound HOV lane on the LIE near exit 53, by the Dix Hills and Commack borders.

No injuries were reported.

Zeiff was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.

According to the New York State Unified Court System database, Zeiff is represented by a private attorney. He paid $2,500 cash bail on Wednesday and is scheduled to appear in First District Court again on Sept. 25.
