A barbecue fire got out of control Saturday and spread to the exterior of a Villanova Lane home, fire officials said.
Nearly 30 Dix Hills volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched, with four engines and two ambulances, under the direction of assistant chiefs Tom Napolitano and Joe Williamson, at around 6:40 p.m. The fire was quickly brought under control, and there were no injuries reported.
The damage was confined to the rear exterior and roof eaves at the rear of the home.
Fire officials reminded residents to use caution while barbecuing, and to keep barbecues a safe distance from homes.
