Woman Critically Injured After SUV Overturns

An 18-year-old Huntington Station woman was critically injured after she lost control of her SUV, struck a guardrail and overturned in Melville early this morning, Suffolk police said.  

Alanna McCarthy was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 northbound on Sweet Hollow Road, south of Chichester Road in Melville, at 1:20 a.m. when the incident occurred, police said.

McCarthy was transported by Melville Fire Department ambulance to Nassau County Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.

There were three passengers in the vehicle with McCarthy. All of the passengers were transported by another ambulance from the Melville Fire Department to Huntington Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
