WATERFRONT WONDER: Prime American Kitchen & Bar, (117 New York Avenue, 631.385.1515, www.restaurantprime.com) is more than just beautiful views, first class service, a hip buzz; their superb kitchen offers more than just superb trendy food. Two restaurant menu mainstays were perfectly prepared and beautifully served. The Teller’s Ribeye (namesake of Teller’s Chophouse) was grilled to perfection and an unbelievable delicious 38 ounces of heaven, $49. The Seared Tuna served over a tower of Asian Vegetable Salad, Soba Noodles, Cashews, Citrus Soy Dressing, Orange Oil, $33 rivals the dish in any of Manhattan’s finest eateries. If you haven’t been there yet, you should experience the union of the latest trends in New American cuisine and design creating a first-class dining destination for the most discriminating and hungry Long Islanders.

DID YOU SAY OATMEAL? Your favorite coffee emporium continues the expansion of its wholesome offerings. Peter, the manager of the Starbucks in the Village, suggested the new Starbucks “Perfect Oatmeal” 100% whole grain – 140 cal, 5g protein and 4g of fiber before you finish it off with your choice of dried fruit, nut medley or brown sugar. The tasty accompaniment to our morning coffee is perhaps a better way to start the day than with the Starbucks Chocolate Chip Cookie. We recommend the tasty oatmeal but really love the cookie. Good morning.
NOMA: The new menu is absolutely worth a try at NOMA (70 Gerard Street 631.923.1570, www.nomarestaurant.com) From Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll w/ avocado, seaweed salad and wasabi peas at $13, to an opening cheese plate of truffle pecorino, scarmorza, gorgonzola, mozzarella and parmigiano, $15 to Meatball Sliders w/ roasted tomato, fontina @ $13 or a Big Eye Tuna Napoleon w/ cucumber, soy, honey glaze, wakame salad, wasabi mayo, $13, we can’t seem to get passed the starters – try an assortment for dinner. Their pasta, pizzas, salads and sandwiches seem to be just as interesting. It’ll take us several visits to sample the pleasures at the Gerard Street dining spot.

FLAY HEY: We can’t attest to the food quality and have heard mixed reviews, but several sources have told us that celebrity chef Bobby Flay, owner of Bobby’s Burger Palace (BBP) at the Smith Haven Mall, is somewhat of a regular behind the grill. The new burger joint is the flagship of the Throwdown master’s nascent chain. He selected the location so that it was close to his Manhattan home so that he could personally manage the launch. According to the Long Island Business News blog interview with Flay, business is good and “the favorites on the menu so far were the Palace Classic Burger with American Cheese, red onion lettuce and tomato for $6.50, the Crunchburger, with double American cheese topped with potato chips, and any of the 10 different flavored milk shakes at $5 a shot. ‘The shakes are awesome,” said Flay.

BURGER WISH: In celebration of the 30th anniversary of their founding in 1978, on Sundays in September at Morton’s if you have a prime sirloin burger for $19.78 they will donate $5 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation as part of their “30 Wishes for 30 Years” campaign, which will contribute a minimum of $125,000 to make 30 wishes come true for children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.
