Mr. Sausage Hits The Shelves: Osso buco, pan-fried
pizza, stuffed salmon, and tiramisu are just a few Italian
delicacies you will be able to make after picking up the cookbook
“Delectable Italian Dishes for Family and Friends.”
Written by Huntington locals Sal Baldanza, co-owner of Mr.
Sausage Italian Fine Foods, and photographer and author Kerriann
Flanagan Brosky, the book will feature 100 of the duo’s
favorite recipes. It is scheduled to hit stands in mid-November.
TIMING IS EVERYTHING: Blame it on construction
delays, but when Fabio Machado finally threw open the doors
to Toast, his long-anticipated breakfast and lunch spot in
Huntington last week, it coincided almost to the day with
the closing (it’s temporary – just for renovations)
of Munday’s, on Main Street. The locked doors and papered
windows at Munday’s put a scare into regulars who feared
that the Main Street institution had suddenly closed. Others
speculated that the place had closed to accommodate Joan’s
elaborate Halloween decorating. In fact, it was ductwork that
had contractors hard at work inside. We can’t say whether
it helped the “soft opening” of Toast a block-and-a-half
away, but we can tell you the new kid on the block was packed
for lunch during its first days.
LI Restaurant Week: The Second Annual Long
Island Restaurant Week will run from Sun., Nov 4th through
Sun, November 11th. It features a special prix fixe

simple: for eight days, Sunday to Sunday, all participating

7 p.m. Each restaurant offers their own unique menu.

BEDLAM STREET CAFÉ: Jonathan Passman,
owner and gifted chef of “Bedlam Street Fish and Clam
Company” who we’ve talked about frequently started
as sous chef at Bedlam Street, and left to become the sous
chef at Foodie favorite mussel mecca Waterzooi of Garden City.
Passman then returned to Bedlam Street as head chef and bought
the restaurant in December 2005 and now as owner and chef
he has taken the food at his Cold Spring Harbor eatery up
a notch. You’ll love it!
