IMAC GALA: The inaugural fundraiser gala event
for IMAC Theater will be held at Appliance World (414
New York Ave.) as four spectacular chefs from area restaurants
(Abel Conklin, Buenos Aires, Mr. Sausage and Dacor) dazzle
your palates with their specialty dishes prepared fresh and
before your eyes in Appliance Worlds’ state-of-the-art
kitchens. Sommeliers from Peconic Bay Winery will pair all
dishes with the perfect wine. This event is all you can
eat and drink, and also features the sophisticated sounds
of the Peter White Trio — live. Of course, the
evening would not be complete without mouth-watering desserts
and exciting raffle opportunities, including a complete home
theater system, a speaker system, gift certificates to fine
local restaurants, a guitar personally signed by Peter White
and more. Tickets for the Tuesday, October 9 (6:30-9:30 p.m.)
gala are $100. For tickets or further information call IMAC’s
24-hour Arts-Line at 631-549-ARTS.
DIPS & SPREADS: Have you been to Southdown
Marketplace lately? They make all of their dips and spreads
daily using fresh ingredients, without the long lists of preservatives
and additives you find in commercially prepared products.
You can experience the fun they had in the kitchen coming
up with unique and delicious new combinations like smoked
chipotle hummus, Tex-Mex smoked gouda, black bean and papaya
and goat cheese and shallot. A lot of the selections go great
on top of a simple piece of grilled chicken or fish. Try the
Jamaican salsa on top of grilled fish or shrimp or the pesto
over pasta. Or watch football and entertain with any of them
on Southdown’s own store made pita chips. Check out
the dips and spreads case right next to the deli at Southdown
Marketplace, 205 Wall Street, 631-351-9660, 7 days 8 a.m.
to 8 p.m.

at the Starbucks in Huntington Village will miss the warm
and friendly manner of star barista Brian Young. The java
jerk has been promoted by the work-friendly coffee company.
We may be spilling the beans but the coffee concoctionist
has become the assistant manger of the Melville Starbucks
location. Huntington Village manager Peter Kwanhas informed
us that he will be working harder to insure the same friendly
service at the Foodies’ favorite watering hole. Best
of luck to Brian, and Peter too!
JAZZ ‘N’ GRAPES: a fine wine
boutique opened last month at 294 Main Street in the heart
of Huntington Village. The music and party-like atmosphere

wine tastings on Friday, Oct. 5, 6-9 p.m., Saturday,
Oct. 6, 6-9 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 7, 1-4p.m. The brainchild
of Michelle Natale, who co-owns the business with sister Margie
and mom Nora, Jazz ’n Grapes offers a new pleasant way
to stock your cellar or find a new wine for dinner. Stop in.
