JETWATCH: Was that former Jet Mark Gastineau spotted devouring a steak at the new Whitman’s Steakhouse (257 E. Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, 631-470-8383.)

MAINE MAID MOM: The historic Maine Maid Inn (4 Old Jericho Turnpike, Jericho, 516 935-6400) is under new ownership. Those of you familiar with Huntington’s Sitar will be pleased to find that Payal & Rajiv Sharma have taken over the local and very old Inn which will remain the same including the name and the waitstaff. However, look for the upcoming facelift of the bar, main dining room and menu. The Maine Maid Inn is the former Valentine Hick’s House, built in 1789. Valentine, a cousin of famed Quaker Preacher Elias Hick married Elias’s daughter Abigail in 1804. He was instrumental in the establishment of New York City’s public school system. With his wife and three daughters, he lived in this historic house from about 1812 until his death in 1850. In 1837 Valentine Hicks was elected second president of the Long Island Railroad and used his influence to bring the railroad to this area. The station was named “Hicksville.” The homestead was a private home until 1930 when it was opened as an Inn.
