MAINE MAID MOM: The historic Maine Maid Inn

The Maine Maid Inn is the former Valentine Hick’s House,
built in 1789. Valentine, a cousin of famed Quaker Preacher
Elias Hick married Elias’s daughter Abigail in 1804.
He was instrumental in the establishment of New York City’s
public school system. With his wife and three daughters, he
lived in this historic house from about 1812 until his death
in 1850. In 1837 Valentine Hicks was elected second president
of the Long Island Railroad and used his influence to bring
the railroad to this area. The station was named “Hicksville.”
The homestead was a private home until 1930 when it was opened
as an Inn. Join them for a Mother’s Day Grand Brunch
