PRIME GOES PINK: Something pink
is going on at Prime: An American Kitchen & Bar (117 New
York Ave., Huntington 631-385-1717 restaurantprime.com). Everyones
favorite waterfront restaurant is marking Breast Cancer Awareness
month with a specially prepared pink-themed menu through the
month of October. For every menu item ordered from the Think
Pink menu, Prime will donate $1 to $2 to Huntington Breast
Cancer Action Coalition. Executive Chef Gregg Lauletta had
fun with the menu, dishing out much menu selections as pink
lentil soup, spicy tuna roll with pink watermelon radish,
pink peppercorn-crusted pork chop, and skirt steak with pink
Hawaiian sea salt, among others. Every dish contains one or
more ingredients rich in anti-oxidants.

NERAKI SPEAKS GREEK: Celebrating their first year in the village,
Neraki (273 Main St., Huntington village 631-384-3474) owners
Alex and Olga Moschos have introduced a $9.95 soup and salad
special on the lunch menu that will have you speaking Greek
in no time. Nearly a dozen sandwiches with names like the
Yia Yia (Keftedes, or Greek meatballs, with feta and tomato),
Loukaniko (grilled Greek sausage, broccoli rabe and feta),
Theya (grilled chicken with feta and eggplant), and Ptolemaida
(Keftedes, kefalograviera cheese and tomato) are on choice
of regular or whole wheat pita and served with soup of the
day. Call it comfort food, Greek style.
LA NOTTE: From the owners of Da Silvana Ristorante in Forest
Hills comes La Notte Ristorante & Lounge, set to open
in Huntington village at the former Bel Posto (Orlandos
for the old-timers) on New Street. Executive Chef Joseph Cacace
brings an impressive resume from well known New York City
kitchens, including Gramercy Tavern, Mercer Kitchen, Tapika
and Mesa Grill where he worked with Bobby Flay. He returned
to his roots (Italian cuisine) and to Long Island with a gig
at Uncle Bacalas before signing on to launch La Notte.
Staff ironed out the wrinkles with soft opening nights for
friends and family over the past weeks and La Notte
in Italian it means the night is ready
to shine. The light is almost on at La Notte.; check their
website at lanotteristorante.com for updates.
GREAT CHEFS: Long Islands premier tasting event is Great
Chefs of Long Island, presented annually by Family Service
League of Long Island. We say that loosely because, in fact
the event was deferred last year in favor of an anniversary
gala. Were happy to see the return of Great Chefs on
Sunday, Dec. 2, 2-5 p.m. at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
Its a whos who of the Long Island restaurant scene
where chefs and owners bring their A-game to give guests a
memorable experience. Among the honorees, Huntington-based
Reststar Hospitality Group owner of Bistro Cassis,
Café Buenos Aires and Bin 56, plus seven other neighborhood
dining destinations in Suffolk, Nassau and New York City,
will be recognized as Restaurateur of the Year. Tickets are
$200 per person; 631-427-3700 or www.fsl-li.org.
WEDNESDAY IS WINE DAY: Huntington Social (330 New York Ave.,
Huntington 631-923-2442 www.huntingtonsocial.com) will be

evening beginning at 5 p.m. In addition, the restaurant will
host Social Hour from 5-7 p.m. featuring $7 selected appetizers,
$4 draft beers and $5 wines by the glass. Selections can be
paired with the new fall dinner menu featuring such items
as: Grilled Jerk Shrimp Skewers ($7) with cilantro and papaya
