THE BACHELOR:
Owners of the Castello di Borghese vineyard on the North Fork are having a barrel of fun as they celebrate their cousin’s search for a bride on ABC-TV’s The Bachelor: Rome. Prince Lorenzo Borghese, a 34-year-old cosmetics entrepreneur, has taken on the on-air challenge of finding someone to share his life and a modern fairy tale ending, as well as centuries of royal tradition dating back to 1604. Prince Marco and Princess Ann Marie Borghese own Castello di Borghese, the oldest vineyard on Long Island and have set out barrels with expressions of love on them to inspire everyone to embrace romance this fall. Castello di Borghese’s Tasting Room has been transformed with a romance-inspired theme that includes hundreds of long-stemmed red roses and amoré music by some of the greatest Italian-American crooners. They will also offer a romance tasting special: the Classic Borghese Tasting, which includes five glasses of the most-cherished Borghese wines, plus an additional favorite of the wine taster. For info, including romantic getaways at Castello di Borghese, call 800-734-5158 or go to www.BorgheseWines.com.

FOOD FIGHT: We remember Bill Clinton jogging through the streets of Washington D.C. and stopping for a Big Mac. The former President has changed his tune. He is now leading the nationwide fight to get the fat out of our schools. The William Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association have formed an alliance to combat child obesity. Several months back we reported that Clinton and new friends had reached an agreement removing sodas from schools across the country. Now, the prez and company have gotten Kraft, Mars, Campbell Soup, Pepsi and other makers of the most popular snack foods and candy to agree to limit fat, sugar, sodium and calories in the snack foods sold in schools.

FOOD FACT:
A family of three tomatoes were walking downtown one day when the little baby tomato started lagging behind. The big father tomato walks back to the baby tomato, stomps on her, squashing her into a red paste, and says, “Ketchup!”
