MORE RESTAURANT WEEK: After a spectacular Dine Huntington Restaurant Week, you thought it was time to hit the gym. Forget that… it’s time for Long Island Restaurant Week (www.longislandrestaurantweek.com). Another eight days of dining run Sunday to Sunday, Nov. 6-13, presented by our friends at Wordhampton Public Relations. The eight-day promotion is islandwide with restaurants in Suffolk and Nassau counties participating. Each offers a three-course prix-fixe dinner for $24.95 all night, except Saturday when it will be offered only until 7 p.m. In all, 190 restaurants have signed on, and there are always latecomers, so check the website frequently. Huntington township participating restaurants include: Besito Mexican Kitchen & Agave Lounge, Bin 56, Bistro Cassis, Bravo Nader, Café Buenos Aires, The Clubhouse Restaurant, HONU Kitchen & Cocktails, Jonathan’s Ristorante, Mac’s Steakhouse, Osteria Da Nino, Piccolo Mondo Restaurant, Porto Vivo, Red Restaurant and Vitae Restaurant and Wine Bar, all in Huntington; Legal Sea Foods in Huntington Station; Grasso’s in Cold Spring Harbor; Andrea’s 25 Ristorante Italiano, Jackson’s Restaurant, and Perfecto Mundo Latin Fusion Bistro, all in Commack; Ruvo Restaurant & Bar, Greenlawn; and Robkes Country Inn in Northport. As usual, there are more places to enjoy great dining than there are nights to do it in, so choose wisely and make your reservations, pronto. Cheers!

NEW STEAKHOUSE: The former La Capannina in Northport is soon to be home to a new restaurant. J. Michael’s Tuscan Steakhouse (688 Fort Salonga Road, Northport 631-651-9411 www.jmichaelscustomsteakhouse.com) promises dry-aged steaks, dayboat fish, rustic vegetables, and exclusive wines and spirits. We’re guessing from the name that an Italian influence will make itself felt as well. No surprise since the man behind the restaurant is Chef Vincent Michaels, formerly of Matteo’s. Manning the kitchen will be Ron Gelish, formerly of Mac’s Steakhouse in Huntington and more recently of Sagamore in Syosset. Opening in November, they’re taking reservations now. Make yours, and tell them the Long Islander Foodies sent you.

CAN JOHN TUNNEY THROW A PARTY? or what! John Tunney, owner of Besito Mexican Restaurant, hosted a star-studded event last night at his newest creation, BALLO Italian Restaurant, located at Mohegan Sun Casino. BALLO, which opened just one month ago, hosted the highly exclusive invite-only after party to the main event, a sizzling hot concert with Jennifer Lopez, for the casino’s 15th anniversary celebration. Guests walked the red carpet into BALLO for an evening of eating, drinking and dancing. More than 500 guests were treated to bites from the authentic Italian menu such as meatballs with broccoli rabe and ricotta salata; sweet sausage pizza with roasted peppers and caramelized onions; scallop and scampi with roasted corn, spinach and sopressata; and filet mignon with heirloom tomatoes, radicchio and arugula. Guests enjoyed the restaurant’s signature cocktail the BALLO Limonata with spirit vodka and blood orange. Boldface names at the party included Hugo Becker, Jaime Pressly, Jesse Metcalf, Kelly Bensimon, Lea Michele, Maria Menounos, Nick Lachey, Vanessa Minnillo, Sammi Giancola, Terrence Howard, Brian Mazza, Linda Vojtova, Tinsley Mortimer, Vincent Piazza, Bobby Flay, Todd English, Cara Santana, Katie Stevens and Kenny Wormald. Everyone danced to the sounds of celebrity DJ Kiss into the wee hours taking to the traditional BALLO style of dancing on the tables.

GOT JUICE: Juice Box, Huntington’s original smoothie, wraps and salads place, has closed. We might guess that the eatery at the corner of Wall and Gerard Streets fell victim to the recent proliferation of smoothie joints, including the Red Mango and Tropical Smoothie Café franchises that opened during the past year. However, Juice Box owner Matt Federico has an application in to the town’s zoning board of appeals for a variance that would allow him to utilize nearby municipal parking lots to satisfy parking requirements so that he can open a restaurant on the site. The zoning board hears his case Oct. 27 at Huntington Town Hall.

PERFECTO HALLOWEEN: Suit up, and bring your appetite; the party is on at Perfecto Mundo (1141 Jericho Turnpike, Commack 631-864-2777 www.perfectomundo.com). The Latin fusion restaurant’s Halloween bash features dinner followed by live music at 9 p.m. with Sweaty Betty Band, and prizes for best costume.
