NERAKI OPEN: Neraki Greek Mediterranean Grill (273 Main St.,
Huntington, 631-385-3474, www.neraki.com) has opened, bringing
fresh grilled seafood and Greek specialty dishes to Huntington
village. In true Greek Orthodox tradition, the new venture
was blessed by a priest during a soft opening for friends
and family last Saturday night. Guests enjoyed a steady parade
of Greek specialties like pastistio, grilled lamb chops, shrimp,
octopus and delicious desserts. In addition, guests helped
Alex celebrate his 40th birthday. Neraki opened Monday, serving
Greek specialties, including whole grilled fish.
WORLD-CLASS JAZZ: The joint was jumpin last Friday night
at Grassos (134 Main St., Cold Spring Harbor, 631-367-6060
www.grassosrestaurant.com). A trio composed of tenor saxophonist
Jerry Weldon (soloist with Harry Connick Jr.s orchestra),
Mike Capobianco on piano and John Ray on bass provided diners
with smooth sounds to enjoy the finest from host Gail Grassos
kitchen. A special treat came when Alex Navarro, musical director
for Engelbert Humperdinck and friend of the Foodies, jumped
in on piano. If live jazz in an intimate setting sounds appetizing
to you, Grassos hosts the lively Danny Mixon Trio (piano,
bass and drums) this Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. for
a show Gail promises will be memorable.
