WINE DINNER: Bin56 (56 Stewart Ave., Huntington,
631-812-0060 www.bin 56.com) and wine distributor Sherbrooke
Cellars will showcase estate wines of France at a wine dinner
on Monday, Jan. 17, 6:30 p.m. A four-course menu will feature
wine pairings from Sherbrooke’s portfolio. To start,
a crisp crab and potato galette with spicy cucumber slaw is
paired with Louis Chevallier Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay ’09;
seared duck breast with lentils and caramelized onions is
paired with Louis Chevallier Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir ’09;
and to accompany a roasted beef tenderloin with potato parsnip
puree and Porcini mushrooms, they’ll pour a Chateau Puy
Guilhem Fronsac Bordeaux ’03. For dessert, apple and
toasted pistachio terrine will be accompanied by a Chateau
Doisy Vedrines Sablettes Sauterne ’05. A seat at
the wine dinner is $75 per person. Reservations are a must.
NEW AT PORTO VIVO: Porto Vivo (7 Gerard St., Huntington, 631-385-8486
www.porto-vivo.com) has introduced new dishes to the menu.
Included are several new appetizers – including an intriguing
appetizer of zucchini blossoms filled with sheep’s milk
ricotta smoked mozzarella with roasted red pepper sauce ($12),
new salads, an addition to their popular flatbread pizza choices,
and several new entrees. Porto Vivo is open seven days from
5 p.m. on.
PRIME ANNIVERSARY: It’s been four years since the opening
of one of the region’s finest restaurants and there are
just a few days left to celebrate it. Prime – An American
Kitchen and Bar (117 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-385-1515
or www.restaurantprime.com) celebrates their birthday through
Saturday, Jan. 15 with a three-course dinner at $40 per person
(or $50 with wine pairings). Also available with any a la
carte entrée is a $10 unlimited tasting of the daily
featured wine and 50 percent off all bottles from the entire
wine list. That’s a great opportunity to try that Chateau
Mouton-Rothschild 2005 ($2,145), or any of the other selections
from Prime’s 38-page wine list.
