GIFT GIVING MADE
EASY: For all the foodies on your holiday gift lists,
restaurant gift certificates are a perfect present. Many restaurants
allow customers to purchase gift cards online, though we cant
figure out who would want to. After all, when else you can
enjoy a meal at your favorite restaurant and get your holiday
shopping done at the same time? Its a no-brainer.
CHRISTMAS EVE
AT ROSE HUNT: The Rose Hunt Restaurant at Fox
Hollow Inn (7725 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury, 516-921-1415,
www.thefoxhollow.com/restaurant) is preparing a special menu for
Christmas Eve. Guests enjoy award-winning cuisine in a classic
English country manor setting thats dressed for the
holidays. Two seatings are available at 5 or 7 p.m. Check
the menu on their website, and call early for reservations.
PORTO VIVO PRIX
FIXE: Porto Vivo (7 Gerard St., Huntington, 631-385-8486,
www.porto-vivo.com) is offering a special holiday menu for
Christmas Eve beginning at 5 p.m. The menu is available for
$65 per person and includes a glass of champagne. A wine special
is also available, offering half off any bottle of wine over
$100. Among the menu highlights, the black pepper fettuccini
a la putanesca with jumbo grilled prawns sounds awesome. Check

FEAST OF THE
SEVEN FISHES: The traditional Italian Christmas Eve
celebration involves a feast with seven seafood courses. Ruvo
Restauarant (63 Broadway, Greenlawn, 631-261-7700, www.ruvorestaurant.com)
serves the festa dei sette pesci as well as the
regular dinner menu and Christmas Eve specials from 2-8 p.m.
Ruvo is closed on Christmas Day.
NEW ALES IN THE
HOUSE: Some new and exciting winter and holiday beers
are arriving with a few winter seasonals already on tap at
Canterbury Ales (314 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-549-4404,
canterburyales.com). Sam Adams Winter Ale and Long Trails
Hibernator Ale are already pouring, and watch for Brooklyn
Winter Ale and Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale on draft and
some seasonal bottles arriving soon. Down a pint with your
favorite Canterbury Ales menu classics. On Wednesday evenings,
it comes with a performance by Al Santoriello.
