GIFT GIVING MADE EASY: For all the foodies on your holiday gift lists, restaurant gift certificates are a perfect present. Many restaurants allow customers to purchase gift cards online, though we can’t figure out who would want to. After all, when else you can enjoy a meal at your favorite restaurant and get your holiday shopping done at the same time? It’s a no-brainer.

CHRISTMAS EVE AT ROSE HUNT: The Rose Hunt Restaurant at Fox Hollow Inn (7725 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury, 516-921-1415, www.thefoxhollow.com/restaurant) is preparing a special menu for Christmas Eve. Guests enjoy award-winning cuisine in a classic English country manor setting that’s dressed for the holidays. Two seatings are available at 5 or 7 p.m. Check the menu on their website, and call early for reservations.

PORTO VIVO PRIX FIXE: Porto Vivo (7 Gerard St., Huntington, 631-385-8486, www.porto-vivo.com) is offering a special holiday menu for Christmas Eve beginning at 5 p.m. The menu is available for $65 per person and includes a glass of champagne. A wine special is also available, offering half off any bottle of wine over $100. Among the menu highlights, the black pepper fettuccini a la putanesca with jumbo grilled prawns sounds awesome. Check out the full prix-fixe menu at porto-vivo.com.

FEAST OF THE SEVEN FISHES: The traditional Italian Christmas Eve celebration involves a feast with seven seafood courses. Ruvo Restauarant (63 Broadway, Greenlawn, 631-261-7700, www.ruvorestaurant.com) serves the “festa dei sette pesci” as well as the regular dinner menu and Christmas Eve specials from 2-8 p.m. Ruvo is closed on Christmas Day.

NEW ALES IN THE HOUSE: Some new and exciting winter and holiday beers are arriving with a few winter seasonals already on tap at Canterbury Ales (314 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-549-4404, canterburyales.com). Sam Adams Winter Ale and Long Trail’s Hibernator Ale are already pouring, and watch for Brooklyn Winter Ale and Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale on draft and some seasonal bottles arriving soon. Down a pint with your favorite Canterbury Ales menu classics. On Wednesday evenings, it comes with a performance by Al Santoriello.
