SMOOTHIE WARS:
Soon, Huntington village smoothie fiends will have four choices
for the blended fruit and yogurt concoctions in a very small
area. Juice Box (30 Wall Street, Huntington) is already open,
and down the road from them, Good People's Farm (46 Gerard
Street) already offers them. Next to Juice Box, a Red Mango
self-serve just opened. What do you do next? Add a Tropical
Smoothie Café a few storefronts down from Black &
Blue. Already set up in East Northport and Huntington Station,
the shop offers dozens of delicious smoothies along with wraps,
sandwiches and flatbreads.
BBQ DEAL:
Who doesn't love a deal on barbecue? Smoking Sloe's (847 Fort
Salonga Rd., Northport 631-651-8812 smokinsloes.com) puts
out an all-you-can-eat buffet for $15.95 from Thursday to
Sunday for dinner (5:30pm-8:30pm). Bite into some big BBQ
flavors with pulled pork, collard greens and fall-off-the-bone
tender spare ribs for a great price. Sloe's is also serving
up 10 soups daily, including hearty Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo,
Roasted Butternut Squash and Southwest Corn Chowder, as well
as unique twists on old-fashioned favorites like Split Pea
with Pulled Pork and Beef Barley with Brisket.
PINK MAKES GREEN:
Bohlsen restaurateurs and brothers Michael and Kurt Bohlsen
presented local breast cancer coalitions with a $6000 donation
on behalf of Prime, H2O, Tellers, Verace and Beachtree. One
dollar from each Think Pink menu item served in October, and
matched by the Bohlsen Restaurant Group, along with proceeds
from the sale of pink baseball hats and pins, plus diner donations,
will help local breast cancer coalitions. "Everyone knows
someone who has cancer. The cause is near to our hearts as
a family and as an employer. The actions that local breast
cancer coalitions can take make a real difference to patients,"
community," said Michael Bohlsen.
