SWALLOW WOWS: The Long-Islander Foodies had a taste at Swallow (366 New York Ave., Huntington 631-547-5388), newly opened in the space previously occupied by Kozy Kettle. Owner and Executive Chef James Tchinnis, formerly of Bistro 44 and Bin 56, offers a New American menu with a creative approach. We tried filet mignon kebabs, as well as a delicious crab cake that appeared to be made almost entirely of crab meat served with a cilantro sauce. The show-stopper, though, was a cup of butternut squash cappuccino froth soup with hints of coffee and truffle oil and a dollop of crème fraiche; a very sophisticated tummy-warmer. Atmosphere is candlelight-cozy.

THANKSGIVING TO GO: Prime – An American Kitchen and Bar (117 New York Ave., Huntington 631-385-1515) offers Thanksgiving celebration menus to go or to stay. The accomplished chefs and state-of-the-art kitchen at Prime will cook a complete take-away dinner for 10-12 people for $379 plus tax. The dinner package, with reheating instructions, may be ordered up to Thursday, Nov. 18 with pick-up on Thanksgiving Day. It includes: roasted turkey apple chestnut croissant stuffing and gravy, sweet potato puree, string bean casserole, whipped potatoes, caramelized onion soup, cornbread and biscuits, and apple pie and cheesecake for dessert.

BEL POSTO: The Iannucci family has joined forces with Executive Chef Michael Ross at Bel Posto (15 New St., Huntington 631-421-4600 www.belpostony.com) at the former Mangiamo. Ross’ Italian a la carte menu puts a new twist on classic dishes paired with a wine bar experience. Antipasti range in price from $8 to $14 and include: mozzarella and prosciutto fritters with Parmesan and tomato sauce; crudo of yellow fin tuna with preserved tomatoes, olive tapenade and sea salt; and white bean bruschetta with garlic, lemon, and extra virgin olive oil on rustic bread. Primi ranging from $16 to $21 feature: fresh ricotta gnocchi with local corn, favas, pistachio-parsley pesto and tomato confit; bucatini with clams, cockles, garlic, basil and parsley; and mushroom ravioli with wild mushrooms, sage and brown butter. Secondi range in price from $19 to $29 and include: roasted pork tenderloin with white bean ragu, broccoli rabe and basil oil; sautéed shrimp with capers, olives, tomatoes, basil, extra virgin olive oil and black pepper potatoes; and porcini-rubbed sirloin with green beans, garlic, charred peppers and fingerlings. Desserts range in price from $6 to $9 and feature: olive oil almond cake with orange vanilla syrup and mascarpone gelato; tiramisu with “cappuccino” lady fingers, espresso custard, chocolate shards and whipped cream; and orange risotto pudding with vanilla bean syrup and whipped cream. Bel Posto is open for dinner Tuesday through Friday beginning at 5 p.m., Saturday beginning at 3 p.m., and Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
