SPECIAL GUEST: Celebrity chef and world class foodie Todd English was a guest at the gala benefit celebrating Porto Vivo’s (7 Gerard Street, Huntington NY 11743, 631-385-8486) first anniversary in Huntington. The red carpet event was a benefit fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis co-hosted by Porto-Vivo owner and Home Shopping Network marketing guru Joy Mangano, and fitness personality Frank Sepe. English, an acclaimed restaurateur and one-time James Beard Foundation National Rising Star, hosts Food Trip on PBS. His Greenpan cookware line is sold on Home Shopping Network.

EAT ITALIA:
Piccolo Mondo (1870 E. Jericho Tpke., Huntington 631-462-0718 www.piccolomondoli.com) celebrates the regional cuisine of Italy with a five-course meal (including wine) featuring the cuisine of a particular region. A tribute to Tuscany kicked off the promotion Sept. 1. On Sept. 8, diners will take a culinary trip to Abruzzo (if you think of Italy as a boot, Abruzzo is about mid-shin). Cupcakes for a Cause: Caffe Portofino (249 Main St., Northport 631.262.7656 www.caffeportofino11768.com) is gearing up for a deliciously indulgent fundraiser – Cupcakes for a Cause! During the week of Sept. 20-26, Caffe Portofino will donate $1 from the sale of each and every cupcake sold. Buy an even dozen or more cupcakes and they will donate an additional $1 for the sale. Businesses located between Northport and Cold Spring Harbor will be able to receive personal delivery on a dozen or more. For cupcake lovers who want to get a head start, Caffe Portofino will feature a flavor-of-the-day; check in daily to test-taste Cookie and Cream, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Collision, Red Velvet, S’mores, Twinkie and more.

WINETASTING:
Bon Bons Chocolatier co-owner Mary Alice Meinersman will be the honoree at Huntington Historical Society’s “An Evening of Wine Under The Stars” fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. on the grounds of the society’s historic Kissam House. Fine wines, gourmet food, live music, and fantastic raffle and auction items are just a few reasons foodies won't want to miss this special evening. Wine Wave and Castello Banfi will be serving Italian wines while local hotspots Joanina, Black & Blue, Mascali, Crew, Smoking Sloe’s, Rookie's Sports Club, Paesano’s and The Melting Pot will be serving up delectable treats as will caterers The Culinary Studio of Huntington, Good 2 Go Deli and Lessing’s, official caterer of Huntington’s Coindre Hall. Blue Point Brewery will be making their debut by providing all the beer for the night. Tickets are $50 for HHS members, $60 for non-members, and $75 at the door (if available).  Call 631-427-7045.
