NEW LIFE FOR OLD FIELDS:
Old Fields Inn, a Greenlawn institution best known for its marinated steak, has been sold. The new owner is no newcomer; it’s David Tunney, who with his brother, John, owns Honu and Besito. The restaurant is closed for renovations and will emerge from its makeover a family-friendly, fun restaurant with a fresh face. Renovations are under way. Look for a late September opening.

DINE NYC: When it comes to fine dining there’s no need to ever leave Huntington Township - until NYC Restaurant Week, that is. The granddaddy of all restaurant weeks, New York City’s features some of the finest restaurants in New York, and therefore the world. More than 275 restaurants are participating, offering a prix fixe lunch for $24.07 per person; or $35 for dinner. Participating restaurants include such top names as Cipriani, Restaurant Orsay, The River Café, the Oak Room at the Plaza, 21 Club, Le Cirque and Gotham Bar and Grill. NYC Restaurant Week is July 12-25. For details go to nycgo.com and click on the Restaurant Week 2010 logo.

SUSHI ON THE HORIZON: What’s better than sushi? More sushi! That’s what’s in the future for Huntington village, where two eateries have received necessary approvals from the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals. The operators of The Black Lantern are creating an intriguing looking lounge on Wall Street in the heart of Huntington’s “restaurant row.” Word is it will be a cocktail/sushi lounge. We can tell you we’ve had a peek at the outdoor patio and can’t wait. Meanwhile, sushi’s on the menu at Kashi, set to open soon at 12 Elm St. The family undertaking renovations at the former Elm Street Eatery operates successful sushi restaurants in Nassau County.
