NEW LIFE FOR OLD FIELDS: Old Fields Inn, a Greenlawn
institution best known for its marinated steak, has been sold.
The new owner is no newcomer; its David Tunney, who
with his brother, John, owns Honu and Besito. The restaurant
is closed for renovations and will emerge from its makeover
a family-friendly, fun restaurant with a fresh face. Renovations
are under way. Look for a late September opening.
DINE NYC: When it comes to fine dining theres
no need to ever leave Huntington Township - until NYC Restaurant
Week, that is. The granddaddy of all restaurant weeks, New
York Citys features some of the finest restaurants in
New York, and therefore the world. More than 275 restaurants
are participating, offering a prix fixe lunch for $24.07 per
person; or $35 for dinner. Participating restaurants include
such top names as Cipriani, Restaurant Orsay, The River Café,
the Oak Room at the Plaza, 21 Club, Le Cirque and Gotham Bar

SUSHI ON THE HORIZON: Whats better than sushi?
More sushi! Thats whats in the future for Huntington
village, where two eateries have received necessary approvals
from the towns Zoning Board of Appeals. The operators
of The Black Lantern are creating an intriguing looking lounge
on Wall Street in the heart of Huntingtons restaurant
row. Word is it will be a cocktail/sushi lounge. We
can tell you weve had a peek at the outdoor patio and
cant wait. Meanwhile, sushis on the menu at Kashi,
set to open soon at 12 Elm St. The family undertaking renovations
at the former Elm Street Eatery operates successful sushi
restaurants in Nassau County.
WINE SPECIAL: Jonathans Ristorante (15 Wall St.,
Huntington 631-549-0055 jonathansristorante.com) celebrates
its seventh consecutive Wine Spectator magazine award of excellence
with a special that encourages diners to try that special
bottle. Sunday through Thursday, take 20-percent off all bottles

WEDNESDAY IS WINE DAY at HONU Kitchen & Cocktails
(363 New York Ave., Huntington 631-421-6900). Each Wednesday
in July from 7-11 p.m., a special three-course menu
will be offered for $34 and will be available paired with
three selected wines for $44. To add to the atmosphere
of these special evenings, there will also be live music by
solo guitarists Mike Dorio and Pete Mann from 7-11 p.m. The
menu for July 21: Prince Edward Island Mussels in white wine
and herb broth paired with Ruffino Lumina Pinot
Grigio Fruili, Italy; Hanger Steak and sautéed spinach
with smoked bacon, pine nuts and golden raisins, paired with
Red Belly Black Shiraz, Australia; for dessert, crepes with
mixed berries and Chantilly cream, paired with Mionetto Prosecco
and fresh strawberry.
