DINE HUNTINGTON: The excitement is building for
Dine Huntington Restaurant Week in October, sponsored by Huntington
Township Chamber of Commerce and Long Islander Newspapers.
Both organizations welcomed sponsor Lexus of Massapequa to
the program last week, just in time for the launch of the
Dine Huntington website. Nearly 50 Town of Huntington restaurants
will offer a three-course prix fixe dining at $24.95 per person
from October 12-23, 2009. To see whos on board, check
out www.dinehuntington.com

up to the minute on Twitter.
POWER LUNCH: Huntington is fast becoming a celebrity
hot spot. Two-time All Star NBA player Stephon Marbury, formerly
a NY Knick and most recently a Boston Celtic, lunched with
Congressman Steve Israel on the porch at Huntington Harbors
Prime (www.primerestaurantlongisland.com) on Aug. 17. The
two health-conscious diners started with twin spinach salads
minus the blue cheese and bacon but with the balsamic vinaigrette;
followed by simply prepared shrimp dishes, one grilled and
the other cocktail-style. No word on what the two had to talk
about.
A YEAR OF LICKING: Herrells Ice Cream owners
Rick and Cathy Meuser celebrated the one year anniversary
of the opening of their store on Gerard Street in Huntington
village by giving free ice cream cones to the kids. Herrells
is considered the granddaddy of premium ice creams and founder
Rick Herrell is in fact often called the inventor of the smoosh-in
style popular at so many ice cream shops today. The Huntington
store is the only Herrells located outside of Massachusetts.
SAMUEL ADAMS MEETS GUY REUGE: Mirabelle Tavern (Three
Village Inn, 150 Main Street, Stony Brook, 631-751-0555 www.threevillageinn.com)
presents a five-course tasting dinner on Thursday, Sept. 17,
featuring Samuel Adams brewery. Josh Havey from Samuel Adams
will be on-hand to discuss the featured brews, and there will
also be live music. An appropriate five-course dinner menu
has been created by chef Guy Reuge for the event. Cost is
$55 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are recommended
