WELCOME HOME: Pindar Vineyards (www.pindar.net or  631-734-6200) founded in 1979, Long Island’s largest and oldest family-owned winery, announced that Leslie Howard has returned as the Vineyard’s Winemaker. Howard began his career at Pindar in August 1994, which started his successful ascent into the field of winemaking. A native of Long Island’s North Fork and Wine Country, with ancestral roots in the area that date back to the 1600s, Howard learned the art of winemaking with a hands-on approach that contributes to the fruit-forward and expressive style of the wine that he creates. “I am thrilled to return to the place where I began my exciting professional journey,” said Howard.  Pindar Vineyards produces more than 60,000 cases of fine varietal wines yearly; and 16 different vinifera varieties are grown at Pindar.
