OSTERIA TOSCANA:
We stopped by Huntington village’s newest eatery Osteria Toscana (69 Wall Street, 631-549-7074) one recent Sunday night and we were wowed by Chef Joe Maulo and his impressive Tuscan menu. The Reststar Hospitality Group which previously operated Pomodoro at that site, has another winner to join Café Buenos Aires, Bistro Cassis and Toast and Co, all within a long block walk. Although it was a quick dinner for two, we savored Maulo’s wonderful interpretations. The Polpette, veal meatballs with melted leeks was an appetizer to remember. The Arrosto di Agnello, mustard crusted – say that thrice — rosemary demi-glaced roasted rack of New Zealand Lamb with sweet potato and parsnip hash was exquisite and the Zuppa Crosacei, a tasty Northern Italian version of a shellfish stew had a unique fried calamari crunch atop the clams, mussels, scallops and shrimp. An extensive menu plus specials calls the Foodies back. See ya there.
