Searching For Anything In Particular?

A South Huntington man called Suffolk County police on a suspicion that his contractor may have searched his house between April 23 and 24. The complainant told police he hired a contractor to do several projects at his house, giving him a key and permission to be inside. He said he was away from the house that night, and found several dresser drawers rummaged through when he returned. Nothing had been taken, and police advised him to question the contractor.

Heart Patient Dies In Home
Suffolk police rushed to a Huntington Station home on April 19 after a resident found her spouse dead. A 64-year-old woman said her 79-year-old husband had just undergone heart surgery and she went to check on him in bed. She reportedly found him not breathing and cold to the touch. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad and Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office responded, as a physician pronounced the man dead over the phone. The funeral director from an area funeral home subsequently removed the body.

Armed Men Waiting In Driveway
An anonymous caller complained about men with a possible gun on the driveway of their Huntington Station home on April 30. The complainant said a silver car was parked with several males inside. The vehicles and its occupants were gone prior to police arrival.

Woman Has Seizure
Suffolk police rushed to a Greenlawn home after getting reports that an elderly woman had a possible seizure on May 3. The Greenlawn Fire Department took the 72-year-old Flushing resident to Huntington Hospital.

Laborers Causing Disturbance
Suffolk police received an anonymous complaint that day laborers were causing a disturbance on the morning of April 21 on Depot Road in Huntington Station. Upon the responding officer’s arrival, the laborers moved back to the hiring site.

Taking His Money And Going Home
A Florida man called Suffolk County police on April 30 after getting into a dispute with the landlord of his Dix Hills apartment. He told police he rented a room from her, but they’re now arguing over rent money and he’s leaving. The responding officer advised him to go through small claims court.

Youths Breaking Bottles On Road
An anonymous caller complained to Suffolk County police about kids throwing bottles onto Vanderbilt Parkway in Dix Hills on April 30. The responding officer’s search of the area came up empty.

At Least The Keys Weren’t Inside
Village police responded to a Northport garage about a potential burglary in the pre-dawn hours of April 29. The responding officers found an open storage container with lights on in the rear of the business. Further investigation, however, revealed that there were no signs of forced entry and that the padlock had been left open. Representatives of the business were unavailable and no further police action was possible at the time.

Underage Man Driving With Beer
A Village police officer confiscated four cans of beer from an alleged underage driver on April 25. The officer was patrolling the area when he noticed the defendant tailgate another vehicle and stopped the green Jeep Grand Cherokee. The officer found several empty beer cans and bottles and confiscated the remaining liquid. He also issued a summons to the 20-year-old Northport man driving.

No Yelling Here
A Northport resident called Village police on April 28 after hearing yelling coming from a neighbor’s house. The responding officer spoke with residents, who said they were only watching television and that there was no problem. Police called the complainant’s family and advised them of the situation. No further police action was necessary.

Who Drove Into Beach Sign?
Village police are searching for the driver who caused $500 in damage to Northport property on April 27. Police claim that someone hit and destroyed the entrance sign to Steers Beach before driving off. The case was referred to the detective for follow-up.

Guitarists Seeking Handouts Dispersed
An anonymous complainant called Village police on April 25 to complain about a group of youths soliciting money outside a real estate office. The responding officer found four juveniles playing guitar and asking for money before he admonished them. The left the area without incident and no further police action was necessary.

Elderly Woman Lacerates Arm
Village police rushed to a Northport house on April 29 after getting a 911 call that an elderly woman cut her arm in a fall. The responding officer found the resident with a towel wrapped around her arm, and instructed her to apply pressure. Northport Rescue dressed the wound and took her to Huntington Hospital.

Son Properly Unloads Gun
A Northport resident surrendered a handgun he found while cleaning his father’s home to Village police on April 29. The responding officer stored the 25 caliber gun, magazine and 66 rounds, which will later be destroyed.

Breakout!
A Melville woman called Suffolk County police on the morning of April 18 after finding a very young girl wandering around her front yard. The child got outside of another home, and a babysitter came to get her once she realized the child had gotten out.

Woman Fell On Stairs
Suffolk police rushed to a Dix Hills home after a resident hurt herself falling down stairs on May 3. She told police she missed a step, fell down and landed on her side. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad took her to Huntington Hospital.

Mother Nature Just Heating Up
Suffolk police received an anonymous complaint on April 21 about a brush fire in Otsego Park. The Dix Hills Fire Department responded and put out the fire.
