The Grandest Of Openings For Amicale
By The Foodies./ foodie@longislandernews.com

It was an over-the-top party on Tuesday, May 17, as Amicale restaurant held a grand opening party. Amicale, which means friendly, was opened by George Echeverria at the former Panama Hatties restaurant on Jericho Turnpike. A total overhaul transformed the restaurant to an elegant and expansive space featuring classic details – vaulted ceilings, granite bar tops, wainscoted walls and 18 – yes, 18 – brilliant crystal chandeliers. There’s even a mini Sistine Chapel ceiling over a service bar in one dining room.

Echeverria and family presided over a ribbon cutting with assistance from Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone, town board members Mark Cuthbertson, Susan Berland, Glenda Jackson and Mark Mayoka, Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia, Huntington Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bob Bontempi and numerous chamber officers. Once the ribbon was cut, the party began and guests were treated to champagne, caviar and a sampling of some of Amicale’s menu offerings.
