All Good At Good 2 Go Deli
By Luann Dallojaconol/ foodie@longislandernews.com

Sometimes, you just want your food in a jiffy, and delis are often that go-to spot, especially when a quick lunch during the work day is in order.

Enter Good 2 Go Deli on Woodbury Road in Huntington. Its staff is quick, the sandwiches are inventive, and everything we’ve had there so far has been delicious. Large lunch boards boast a chopped salad bar, homemade soups, and sandwiches, heros, Panini and wraps with Boar’s Head cold cuts. The cold salads look fresh and enticing on the other side of the glass. They also have bagels, homemade cream cheese, eggs, pancakes and French toast on the breakfast menu, as well as Hebrew National specials like corned beef, pastrami and knishes for lunch.

After having lunch on-the-go from Good 2 Go a number of times (although you can enjoy your food at one of the tables outside), we’ve learned a few things: The heros are all good-sized sandwiches; anything with their chicken cutlets is a sure winner; and it pays to try one of their unique board specials. They also offer free delivery on orders of $15 or more.

Although we suspect everything is good, here are a few of our favorites:
The San Juan ($7.25) is full of flavor, with a grilled chicken cutlet, grilled onions and melted pepper jack cheese on a garlic hero. The cheese has a nice kick to it, and the flavor of the onions really brings out the garlic in the bread.

The Chicken Bacon Bomber ($7.95) is the best of both worlds – their chicken cutlet and bacon. The hero is topped with cheddar, lettuce and tomato with Russian dressing making for a hearty lunch.

The Huntington wrap ($7.95) is delicious and refreshing, with sliced grilled chicken, gorgonzola with a nice bite, a spring mix, walnuts and dried cranberries that add a touch of sweetness and complement the walnuts well. It’s drizzled very lightly with balsamic vinaigrette, giving the wrap just enough dressing so it’s not dripping in it.
We were told the Tommie B’s wrap ($7.95) is a house favorite, and when we tried it for ourselves we had to agree. With roast beef, cheddar, lettuce, tomato and red onion drizzled with horseradish, it’s at the top of our list.

Good 2 Go also makes excellent Panini, grilled just right so the things like the cheese melt slowly and vegetables don’t get soggy or wilty. The Venice has been our favorite so far, stuffed with Genoa salami, melted mozzarella, red onions, olives, roasted red peppers, oregano and oil and vinegar.

The cold salads entice from behind the counter. Our choice is the macaroni salad, covered in a tasty mayonnaise; it’s the best we’ve had in a while. The Penn Dutch potato salad is also a nice sandwich complement, with red-skinned potatoes and boiled egg thrown in the mix.

With picnics in the park and trips to the beach on your list of things to do this summer, Good 2 Go Deli would make for a nice stop along the way to stock up for your day. True to the name, they leave you good to go.
