More than 50 restaurants participating in Dine Huntington Restaurant Week Oct 12-23

Book your tables now because prime nights are going fast as word spreads about Dine Huntington Restaurant Week, sponsored by Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, Long Islander Newspapers and Lexus of Massapequa.

For 12 days from October 12-23, more than 50 restaurants from every corner of Huntington Township will serve up a three-course dining experience for $24.95 per person plus tax and tip. Some of the finest restaurants in town are on board and their chefs are designing menus to showcase their art and show off their restaurants to new diners.

“There’s a reason Huntington is called the Restaurant Capital of Long Island,” said Michael Schenkler, publisher of Long Islander Newspapers and organizer of Dine Huntington Restaurant Week. “I’m just happy it’s a 12-day-week because there are so many restaurants participating and I want to try them all.”

Diners are already lining up their Dine Huntington Restaurant Week excursions by logging on to www.DineHuntington.com where menus from all 51 participating restaurants are being posted. The restaurant page of the website is a who’s who of Huntington’s star industry and chefs have composed an enticing array of selections. Just click on the restaurant’s logo to download its Dine Huntington Restaurant Week menu. Each includes at least three appetizer and entrée selections, plus dessert, and the choices include some mouth-watering and often surprising selections.
Just a few highlights:

• 34 New Street owner Steve Camas is either a great chef or a great writer – or both. Pistachio crusted tuna: yellowfin tuna coated with roasted pistachios, cooked rare and served over wasabi potatoes and spicy seaweed salad, topped with toasted sesame aioli – just one of seven entrees on his Dine Huntington menu. He’s on our list.

• Pumpkin ravioli topped with a touch of pumpkin sauce - an appetizer from Meehan’s of Huntington’s menu - along with Mother Meehan’s secret recipe shepherd’s pie. Autumnal treats.

• Bin 56, a wine and tapas bar, takes a different route, offering a choice of appetizers and four flights of wine.

• Mare Luna’s Tilapia Mare Luna, with jasmine rice, vegetable medley, capers, tomates, olives and basil – an exotic and enticing offering from a Huntington village hideaway that’s been on our “to do” list for some time.

• Foodie favorite Jonathan’s menu includes menu stars Veal al Limone with jasmine rice and string beans; and Gamberi in Padella alla Puttanesca, or Tiger shrimp, olives, capers and tomato with jasmine rice and asparagus.

• “Localvores” can head to Greenlawn’s Ruvo for a version of their famous Long Island Harvest menu. Local-grown, -fished and –harvested, and touched by the Ruvo kitchen’s magic.

The highlights go on and on. Browse the menus at www.DineHuntington.com, and start making your reservations because tables are filling up fast.
